6 Month Old Baby Photo Sessions

What is more precious than a baby girl in a bonnet? A naked baby girl in a bonnet! I love my six month old baby photo sessions because babies at this age are just SO sweet. I could’ve photographed this cherub all day. Look at those soft dark curls, that smooth tan skin and those light puppy-dog eyes. I don’t know how her parents don’t just eat her up!

“Sitters” — babies who are about six to nine months of age and can sit up but not crawl or walk — are pretty much perfect models. I like to keep the backdrops and props pretty minimal and neutral for these sessions so that the focus is on the squish-able curves and toothless grins. I do extra softening in the editing process to help accentuate the details that you’ll want to remember forever, like those long eyelashes.

Sweet and Simple Baby Sessions

As much as I love styling elaborate sets for holidays, birthdays and special occasions, there’s nothing quite like my sweet and simple baby sessions. Sometimes all you need is a squishy naked body, a soft blankie and a seamless neutral background. “Sitters” are babies around six to nine months of age who can sit up, but aren’t mobile yet. They’re basically perfect models! This is the age when the cheeks are the roundest, the rolls are the chunkiest and the dimples are the deepest. I can’t get enough!

I do have a props we can incorporate, like the darling vintage carriage, cool textured bowl and tiny distressed chair that you’ll see below. This little cutie, Juliana, was so good-natured about letting us try different headbands on her. How gorgeous are her eyes with the charcoal gray backdrop?

Teen Birthday Session — Jordynn is 13

This colorful mural in Jersey City is called “The Dream,” and that’s just what it was to do Jordynn’s 13th birthday photo session. I love the contrast between her crinkly white dress and the rich red background. The movement we were able to capture in these shots perfectly reflects Jordynn’s active personality. The whimsical butterflies and flowers help keep things playful and youthful. Jordynn is just gorgeous inside and out, and it was a pleasure to help her celebrate this special birthday.

We couldn’t resist getting some pictures in front of the Jersey City skyline at sunset, and I just LOVE how they turned out. The giant foil “13” balloons bring out the purple hue in the sky, the buildings and the iridescent jewels on Jordynn’s dress. She’s so tall and lean, and looked so glam in the cityscape. She showed off her athleticism in the last shot, which I’m sure will be a framer for her family’s walls. Go Jordynn!

Spirited Sisters — Child Photography

I spent a beautiful evening with Mia and Lily at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, and captured some sweet moments between these spirited sisters. They loved getting all dolled up and running around the fountain, and up and down the stairs. Their soft curls glow were glowing in the warm yellow sunshine, which perfectly complemented their ruffly purple outfits. I love Mia’s cheesy grin as she squeezes her little sister, Lily. There’s nothing else quite like the relationship between sisters.

Photo shoots with toddlers and preschoolers are always interesting because someone might not always be smiling, looking at the camera or even wearing shoes, but I like to keep it real. Childhood is such a fleeting and magical time, and I love photographing the innocent eyes, mischievous grins and playful poses. If only I had a fraction of the energy of these two!

Unicorn 1st Birthday Cake Smash — Twins!

Unicorn Themed 1st Birthday Cake Smash

Unicorns are everywhere right now, so of course I was thrilled to do a unicorn themed 1st birthday cake smash! These blue-eyed twin girls made darling unicorns, and Kimmy of Kimmy’s Cakes knocked it out of the park once again. The gold metallic horns and eyebrows on the mirror-image cakes really pop, and I can’t even imagine how long it took her to carefully curl all those colorful fondant unicorn locks. Rather than going full-on rainbows with our unicorns, we focused on girly purples, pinks, aqua and mint for this shoot, and it’s got me ready for spring!

These sweet sisters were a little timid at first, but they figured out what “smash” meant soon enough. Look at those innocent eyes — I would seriously have trouble not giving these girls everything they want! I loved capturing their little crumb-covered fingers, toes and even bums. Happy birthday, lucky ladies!
