Gemma’s Ballerina 1st Birthday Cake Smash

Plié … relevé … REST. Whew, turning ONE is hard work! Especially when there is a real barre involved. This little ballerina, Gemma, could not have been more adorable! She made her dancer momma proud (not to mention her photographer). I had so much fun putting together the pink and mint green set, complete with star twinkle lights, but of course the real star of the shoot was Gemma. Look at that grin in the close-up! So sweet.

A special thanks goes to Kimmy’s Cakes for another exquisite smash cake, which Gemma was so excited to dig into, she actually knocked it off the pedestal, haha! As elegant as she looked in her leotard and beaded headband, it was fun to switch things up with just a tutu and a whimsical birthday hat, too. Her big blue eyes really stand out in some of those shots. We also got some portraits in a beautiful pink dress her mom chose — look at that bow in the back!

Gemma really did a number on her cake, and then she tried to flee the scene! I love the last photo that I was able to capture from above as she crawled toward my feet. You’re a star, ballerina baby!

I’m excited to offer the following themes, many of which work well for both boys and girls: airplanes, hot air balloons, carnival, unicorns, “Down on the Farm,” Bohemian flowers, Bohemian “Wild One” with arrows, “Where the Wild Things Are,” music, Cookie Monster, Mickey Mouse, lavender fields, carousel, Paris, ballerinas, blue stars, angel and clouds, and woodland animals. You can even just pick a color scheme, and we’ll roll with that!

A rose garden in full bloom is the perfect place for summer maternity photography. Beautiful mamas bursting with life surrounded by lush greenery and florals make for stunning images. Here is the lovely Maria, in a light blue gown that shows off her baby bump and matches the afternoon sky. Golden sunbeams shine down on her as though to bless her as she prepares to give birth. There is nothing more gorgeous than expecting mamas, and I love capturing them! We always shoot outdoors in different pre-scouted locations each season. In the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule (it may have to be a weeknight — thank you for your flexibility!). Maternity sessions are typically held when moms are between 7 and 8 months pregnant, and include the following:

30-45 minute session and 15 carefully selected and fully edited images
the base digital package — The Petal Collection (all hi-res digital files on a USB drive)
two clothing changes for mom (partners are welcome to be in the photos in one outfit)
use of any of the beautiful gowns and hairpieces in my collection (I can also make recommendations for hair, make-up and manicures once a session is booked.)

Newborn Photography — Teddy With His Teddy

Meet Teddy, shown first in one of my favorite newborn photography poses (which are always done safely and with the help of photo editing software), frog pose. I love the wrinkle at the bridge of his nose, the pucker in his bottom lip, and the way his toes separate!

And of course, when a baby named Teddy comes into my studio, you know I have to photograph him with a tiny fuzzy bear — swoon!

This sleepy little guy was wonderful to work with. I love that we were able to capture a “smile,” along with lots of squishy cheeks and back rolls. His perfectly parted hair makes him look so distinguished for someone just a few days old. Welcome to the world, Teddy!

World Kissing Day — July 6

Mwah! Happy World Kissing Day! As a family photographer, I’m fortunate to capture lots of kisses — between couples, parents and their little ones, and siblings like these two adorable sisters. This is one of my favorites despite the fact (or maybe because of the fact) that it’s more of a miss than a kiss. Look at the positions of their little hands!

Even if a kiss doesn’t always land exactly it’s meant to, it’s always full of love. I enjoyed a beautiful summer evening in the garden with these cuties. I hope you’re all having a good evening with your loved ones this Kissing Day!

Baby Girl Ava Sitter Session

This sitter session with sweet baby girl Ava was one of the best ever. You can probably tell since I shared two sneak peeks (here and here). What a happy baby — she was such a joy to capture!

I could never pick just one favorite image from this session. She looked absolutely precious in all the outfits, in front of all the backgrounds, with all the props. I love that little puff of hair that stands up behind her hair accessories. And then how cute is her bald spot in the back, in the shot from behind? The dimple that forms when she grins and sticks her tiny tongue out is just priceless. She had a ball playing with the fake flowers, and of course her own chubby hands and feet. I don’t know how her family doesn’t just eat her up!

Sitter sessions are for babies between the ages of 6 and 9 months, or when they are sitting up on their own but not walking. I recommend waiting until baby is sitting up so you maximize your session and have the greatest selection of poses in your gallery. Session details:

about an hour long (little ones that age generally don’t last any longer)
choice of two backdrops
wardrobe assistance — I have a select number of beautiful handmade dresses and rompers for girls, and one super cute knit romper for boys. You may provide your own outfits as well (we will work together on clothing choices). For boys, I recommend little jeans (nude on top is adorable!) and outfits with bow ties and hats.
final gallery of 15 beautifully edited hi-res images sent via digital transfer within 2 weeks of the session
$425 plus tax ($200 plus tax deposit to hold your session, and balance of $225 plus tax due the day of)

Capture your little one’s milestones throughout his or her first year — tummy time, sitting, crawling, standing and maybe even walking (look out!). The collection includes:

three 30-minute sessions around 4 months (studio), 7 months (outdoor or studio) and 12 months (outdoor or studio)
15-20 color images for the 4 month session; 25-30 images for the 7 month session; 30-35 images for the 12 month session
12 month session includes a cake for a cake smash in the studio if you would like to celebrate the 1^st birthday
$1470 plus tax for all three sessions ($370 plus tax deposit to reserve dates, and $370 plus tax due at each session)
