Lavender Fields and Flowers 1st Birthday Cake Smash

Sweet Alaia (isn’t that a beautiful name?) celebrated her first birthday with a lavender fields and flowers cake smash. Although we didn’t use any actual lavender, these images almost make me smell the fragrant flowering herb and feel calm. The painterly background, vintage bird cages, twinkle lights and paper floral elements gave this session a soft, romantic feel. Another delicious and pristinely decorated cake by Kimmy’s Kakes was the centerpiece of the set.

Look at Alaia’s big brown eyes! She looked precious in both pink and aqua, and of course in just a diaper cover and oversized bow. She wasn’t a big fan of getting messy and let us know when she was all done, but luckily, we got some adorable portraits before that. I love the detail shots showcasing her sweet piggies, her gorgeous long eyelashes and her crumb-covered kisser. Have fun being one, little love!

1st Birthday Cake Smash sessions take place in my Cranford, NJ studio or on-location outdoors and include the following:

• the session fee (time and talent to capture, carefully select and fully edit 30 final images)
• the base digital package — The Petal Collection (all hi-res digital files on a USB drive)
• a beautiful, personalized cake from Kimmy’s Cakes
• carefully and personally selected props such as handmade swags, balloons and paper flowers to match your theme

I know how busy parents are, so I do all the errand-running, crafting and styling for you. You just bring the baby in his or her adorable outfit!

I’m excited to offer the following themes, many of which work well for both boys and girls: airplanes, hot air balloons, carnival, unicorns, “Down on the Farm,” Bohemian flowers, Bohemian “Wild One” with arrows, “Where the Wild Things Are,” music, Cookie Monster, Mickey Mouse, lavender fields, carousel, Paris, ballerinas, blue stars, angel and clouds, and woodland animals. You can even just pick a color scheme, and we’ll roll with that!
